Be contented with what you have. / 12:32 AM

Hello readers. It's been sometime since the last post here. Therefore I will like to share a story that I have read in a book.

One day, as God was relaxing at his throne, he thought on a plan. "How about letting the living beings redo their lives again. If I were to given them another chance of living on Earth again, what will they be?" So he pass out a paper asking the living beings to write down what they want to be and their reasons. As God got back their answer and reads it, he got frustrated! Let's take a look at each of their answers.

Cat:"If I were to reborn, I will be a mouse. I got beaten pretty badly due to stealing a fish from my master. A mouse, on the other hand, is able to eat and drink till his stomach delight and nobody cares about it."

Mouse:"If I were to reborn, I want to be cat. From the moment you are born, you have a master to feed you. You live like an emperor.Sometimes we also have friends who will give you food too."

Pig: "If I were to reborn, I will be a cow. Although it maybe tough, the reputation is good. I'm always being known by people of my laziness and people associate me of being stupid!"

Cow: "If I were to reborn, I will be a pig. I always eat grass, the farmers squeeze milk out of me, and I'm always using my strength to work on the field. Who has given me recognition and awarded me for my hard work? Being a pig is so much better, all it have to do is eat and sleep!"

Eagle:"If I were to reborn, I will be a chicken. If you are hungry, there will be grains of rice to eat. If you are thirsty, there will be water to drink. You also have a shelter over your head and you have a farmer to protect you! Us, we have to hunt down our food regardless if it's rain or shine, throughout the 4 seasons. So tiring!"

Chicken:"If I were to reborn, I will be a eagle. I can soar in the sky, prey on rabbits and other small beings. Our task are only lay eggs and we have to constantly live in fear of predators!"

The most fasinating answers come from the human beings.

Male:"If I were to reborn, I want to be a woman! Not only can they be pampered, they can also be the princess, the queen, the wife. The most important thing is they are able to control a man, letting males obeying every word coming out from their mouth."

Female: "If I were to reborn, I want to be a man! They are fierce, adventorous, they can be the prince, the king, the master and the father...The most important thing is that can dominate us females!"

The moment God see finish these answers, he shouted angrily,"These guys only know how to compare with each other!" He tear away all the papers and shouted," That's it! Everything resumes as before! Ignore the fact these request was not every said!"

So the morale of the story? Be contented with what you have. Yes at time we may be amazed by the things our friends have and we want to have. Or maybe we compared with them on their amazing traits such as their intelligence or their looks. If we keep comparing ourselves with others,of course we will not be happy. Instead, treasure the things we have and appreciate it. That way, your life will be much more happier than you can ever imagine.

Therefore I wish our readers have happy days ahead!

I heard this story somewhere and I thought there was excellent learning point. I think all of us should be reminded that all our actions, big or small, can and will affect whoever around us, in good and bad ways. Many times we overlook this. So yes enjoy the story and be reminded that we affect people in many ways every single moment, many times we don't actually realise it. =D

A Simple Gesture

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they walked Mark discovered the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend. They arrived at Bill's home first and Mark was invited in for a Coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then Mark went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk.

Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. "Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" asked Bill. "You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mothers sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day, you did a lot more, you saved my life."

HIDUP / 11:03 PM

Hello my dear friends. its been some time since my last post so here goes. I hope you guys are doing well because i know hidup(life) hasnt been a smooth road for many of us. Lol just sharing with you guys about my university application, i got rejected by both NUS and NTU. Feeling shucks but what to do life have to go on. Im still floating around not knowing where to stop, not knowing which path to take. Waiting for NIE to reply ( PRAYING HARD FOR THAT LETTER TO BE IN MY MAILBOX SOON). Now.... this is when i feel that whatever we teach and pass on to the students like the 5 success formulas are being re-enforced in our own lives. Its easy to teach people values but like what Azri (Mirror for KPS) kept saying you've got to "walk your talk". Whatever u ask others to do you have to do it first. Thats when the difficult part comes in. There are times when i myself feel like shit WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?!?! WHERE HAVE I GONE WRONG???? A good example, pathetic ALEVEL results in my eyes. CCEUCC. What type of grades are that? BULLSHIT. WHERE TO GO? Now thats when the success principle "There are no Failures, Only learning experience" comes in mind. Even i feel like scraping tt principle I myself taught my students to follow. Emotions running wild. But we human's dont stay angry, sad, irritaited for a long time. And maybe after a while, those feelings will be long gone and the memories will fade. I pray that i find something else to chase after so that i don't feel so lost.

OK END OF EMOING! hahahahhahah. take care :D

Hello readers & Bagusians, I have just come back from my adventure expedition with my Boys' Brigade company. While doing this expedition, I have actually recalled the times and adventure that the Bagusians have encountered during that past 4 days 3 night around Singapore.

Indeed when I came back from the expedition, I just feel that there's a need to blog over here as I have a message to share with our dear readers. These message is also the same message that I have shared with my Boys once they completed their 25km expedition. The message goes as follows.

" Boys, I know that since yesterday, you guys have walk a long distance and I have seen some of your faces are tired, you feel fatigue. At some point, you also want to give up this journey and head back home to enjoy the luxourious bed that awaits in your house, but you didn't give in the temptation! The same thing applies in your life.

You see, life itself is like an expedition. At times, you need to meet certain checkpoints so as to continue the life path in your journey. However, at certain point of time, you feel tired or fatigue, you may even want to give up or get upset on certain issue of your life! My advice to you, DO NOT GIVE IN TO THESE TEMPTATION IN YOUR LIFE JOURNEY! Instead, Have a strong willed to resist these them! As the moment you give up in these expedition, you will start to lost yourselves and eventually, you are not able to find your checkpoints. So gentleman, I want you to remember the lessons that you have learned in these expeditions."

Anyway, tomorrow some of the Bagusians are going for another camp to impact another batch of students! Let's give in our best shot!

Boon signing off.

Hey ppl. Back from BPGHS Live!Ops. Power, power camp. Simply beyond words. They were not grouped in classes, but in fact were mixed. As I watch them carry out the various activities and help each other out with a somewhat sincere attitude, despite them being mere acquantainces makes me realise even more the importance of the people around us in our lives. And that, they can help us through the rain when we're feeling down and out.

and so coincidentally, i chanced upon this story, which I thought is quite apt for most of us, since many of us are so bogged down with achieving professional success that we sometimes ignore all those around us and forget all who have helped us one way or another.

Most Important Question

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop
quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the
questions, until I read the last one: 'What is the first name of
the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke.
I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired
and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper,
leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student
asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
Absolutely, said the professor. "In your careers you will meet many
people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if
all you do is smile and say hello". I've never forgotten that lesson. I
also learned her name was Dorothy.

Hello BAGUSIANS and readers,

Does everyone have a good rest? Well I sure do :) Aniway, I just blog on our journey at my own blog as there are way too many things to write up so yeah feel free to visit my blog.

http://ahboylifestory.blogspot.com

In this whole journey, we get to experience a lot of things. We challenged ourselves to the limit and we have also forged friendship bonds that we will not forget throughout this entire race. Really I like to emphasize on the friendship bonds that we shared as I believed without the friends here, I doubt I will be able to complete this race. Thus, I would like to share to BAGUSIANS and readers on this inspirational quotes once again.

A friend is one who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself.

Friends believes that you are able to break down the barriers of walk and motivates you to surpass yourselves. Thats why I like to have friends to be around me to support one another at tough times.

PS To BAGUSIANS, you guys want to go out and have a celebration party of completeing the race?

The start of the rest of our lives! / 11:28 PM

Selamat malam to all my dear bagusians!

Firstly I would like to say thanks a million to each and everyone of you for tolerating me for the last 4 days (yeah you better appreciate it cos i tolerated you guys too especially.... ) HAHAH!!! nah its all good fun :). Ok back to serious stuff.

When mabel first asked me if I wanted to join the nomadic race my first reaction was WAHLAUUUUU lazyyyy ahhhhh..... But then i thought again and just do it uh because I'll never know what i'll get out of it. And now i never regretted making that decision even after the freaking painful blisters, the arguments, the lack of rest, food and water and the MILES AND MILES OF WALKING because you guys were there for each other, you guys were supporting each other. It may not be in terms of opening your mouth and saying encouraging words but the tiny winy deeds that everyone of you showed.

For me, chin boon was always there to start the laughing hyena in me, but he was also there to take care of me the first day when my blisterS made its appearance. Also being the navigator of the group, his patience for us when we sometimes get frustrated because we went the wrong way and had to back tracked is SUPERB. Without you, I'll be going in circles around Singapore.

Mahesh, never even once leaving my side during the entire race, we just clicked at the start to the end. Like you were telling me the other night we have a certain kind of telephaty going on between us. No need to open our mouth we know what each other is thinking. The jokes, story telling and singing sessions we had along the way was a booster to my energy physically, mentally and emotionally.

And for the computer wiz and born leader Sutrisno, you've always been there supporting every single one of us. Disturbing me and mabel any chance you had just to make the spirit in us happy. I thank you so much for being the glue that stuck all 6 of us together. Alwyas putting everyone before yourself. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL: THE PRESIDENT OF PJC COUNCIL! hehehe :)

My ODAC treasurer, Mabel Lau, i thank you so much for asking me to join this race. Eventhough we've known each other for the past 2 years and counting, this is the first time we really LIVED, BATHED and SLEPT together, literally. You really cared about every single one of your team members and no worries captain you did an excellent job in the role. These past 4 days have brought us much closer than ever before. Continue being the tai tai that you are because that's what makes you you in this family :).

Lastly, my dear friend Azree. Yes we are friends because we live very close to each other. LOL. It was just a statement that came out of my mouth but now we know that being neighbours is not the only thing that links us together, because of we now come from one family called BAGUS. Thanks a lot for teaching all of us small things along the way. Also the run from sengkang police post to punggol jetty, that last stretch was A REAL STRETCH to me. So kudos for keeping the group together then and reaching the end point together! That is one of the events in this race that I will never forget.

Like Sutrisno said, writing an essay would not be sufficient to even show how much i appreciate being in this group. So i end this entry with the start of the rest of our lives.

It's Morphing Time!

All I wanna do now is to give the team the biggest hug ever. nothing can describe how much I adore the team. for one, I really felt that we had a special something going on within the team. much of my motivation is based on that feeling of that special something. no amount of pain, cramps and shit will stop me from going that extra mile for this very special group of people.

at the same time tho, i'd kinda like to apologise, if i wasn't feeling for the team. my life experiences has somewhat edged me to be non-empathetic and sometimes cold. there are times when i have strong tendencies to think with my head rather than feel with my heart. this is really something that i've been tackling for a while now, and i think will continue to tackle for a pretty long time before it settles. so with that, i really hope that whatever hard feelings that surfaced be bygones.

you could task me to write a 10 page essay about my feelings for the team and the camp, but even 10 pages wun be sufficient to describe my love for both. it's super heartening to be running, walking and limping with 5 very strong people. speechless.

so yes, amazing people, awesome camp, fantastic 4 days...what more could i ask for? so yes, pardon me for the lack of emotion and the lack of language quality. realli realli love y'all.

xoxo,
Sutrisno

Q: Tell us a bit more about yourself and your position in your community.

My name is Thanagopal, was an army contributions to the armed forces thereby receiving the Long Service Award too. Had the privellege to drive all thetaxis from the various companies in Singapore. For example, The London Cab n the now rare Yellow top.

Through my dedication n passion for the Holy Tree Balasubramaniam temple, I helped the temple get rid of corruption, also offering my commitment to the daily temple chores such as area cleaning and cooking. My beliefs and attitude towards life have shown many people including worshippers to have a clean way of life and the importance in having strong faith

Q:Who/What motivates you to do what you are doing now?

My late wife of course. She was a hardworking and dedicated community servant as well.

Q: Do you think you are making an impact to your community?

Maybe. I choose to stick with my faith n beliefs. That’s the very reason why people might look up to me, not for how I am, but who I am. Ultimately its down to the individual.

Q: What is your most memorable experience in this job?

No. What I do is not regarded as my job. Its my service to the community. One memorable experience is about the donation boxes. The boxes were once heavily guarded by locks n chains. But even though these security measures had been implemented, theft was still an issue. But now, without the security implementations, donations to the temple have steadily increased without theft and corruption.

Everyday Greatness / 8:01 PM

When we wake up first thing early in the morning, the place to visit to is the toilet. It is time to go to school, so you decided to take a bus to school whereby it is run by the LTA. As the bus is on the road it has to follow the traffic light and you notice a motorbike has pass by your bus. You take a look at your watch and you notice that you had 10 mins left before you are late for school. Once you alight at the bus stop you ran straight to the overhead bridge which will lead you to your school. You notice that you are not late for school yet. The recess bell rang and the first place you head towards is a vending machine to get a can of red bull. Once done you throw it into the dustbin. After school you went to orchard via MRT. However your ezlink was low so you topped it up at the ezlink top up machine. At orchard, you use the singtel public phone booth to call your friends. They told you they have changed the meeting point to Bedok. To reach there on time, you decided to take a cab and asked the driver to use the fastest and shortest route via signboard. After spending time with your friends you headed home walking by a tractor and lamp post. Once at home you turned on the powerpoint, tv and fan.

/ 8:20 AM

After a well deserved 6h rest at East Coast Park, the team had decided to make our way down to the eastern side of Singapore where we can see big and beautiful aeroplanes zooming over our heads.

Due to the unexpected tiring journey to changi village, all of us were shag-e-delic by the time we reached there.

At last, walking for over thousands and thousands of miles, we reached our destination. Having come thus far, how can we leave the place without the famous nasi lemak and refreshing sugarcane juice for dinner. We also did not forget our task that was to find the wooden bridge.
You may be wondering why only Sutrisno's face is captured. Kudos to his photosgraphy skills. He is really suited to go into the photography career.

Changi Village Wooden Bridge

The journey from East Coast Park to Changi Village took us 5 hours, from 12pm-5pm. The distance we approximately covered is between 15-20km. Imagine the amount of stretching we had to do on top of constant encouragement that we give to one another. During the walk, there were moments where Suhaila, Mahes and Azree sang songs from soulful David Cook to some Hindi songs just to keep themselves going. They were simply HIGH!!!!! WEEEEE!!! BAGUS!!!!! When we reached Changi Beach Park where we were still 4km away, we had a leg and shoulder massaging session between ourselves. Beacause of our resourcefulness and strong team bond, Sutristno, the hero, came with a bicycle where Suhaila and Mabel rode down to the Changi Village.

Having walking for the past two days, we decided to make use of our bus ride we are entitled to. We took bus service 109 down to Seng Kang Community Club and the group wanted something fresh. Thus, we went for a light jog through te scenic Punggol neighbourhood. Every step we took, the crikets and toads were cheering for us. Within half an hour, we managed to reach there.Just look at our satisfied faces and dripping wet hair.

From Sengkang, we took a bus to Ulu pandan and we followed the jogging trail which lead us all the way to the railway bridge. At the bridge we took the photo and headed to NUCC.

Sunset Way Rail Bridge

The bridge really looks like a relic in the midst of a modern and colourful neighbourhood. We were unfortunate enough to have reached the bridge at night! It was super spooky to the max! If Changi has OCH, Sunset Way has this rail track. Flanked by millions (ok, just exaggerating.) of banana trees, we were afraid even to go near it. In fact the whole team chickened out from the photo except our hero for the night: Ong Chin Boon. He courageously stood below the bridge, and we were able to produce the spooky shot that you see above.

TADAAA!!!! I WAS HERE!!! So when we reached NUCC, the four of us took a picture with Suhaila as the camera woman. Now now..... lets play a little game...... CAN YOU SPOT MAHESH???? 10 points for you if you do!
NUS UCC
Located near the National University of Singapore, the National University Cultural Centre was home to some of the renowned artists for them to perform their wonderful musical pieces. There's also a three storey museum which contains asian artworks and artifacts.
Did you know that PM Lee also made his National Day Rally a few years ago?

We then headed for the BOTTLES! Since we wanted to imitate Ridz, we decided to let Mahesh take the picture. TUMMY BABEHHH!!!!

Bottle Tree

The amazing Bottle Tree is named such because it looks like a bottle! Amazing right? A bottle-shaped tree. According to our sources, it originated in Australia and somehow managed to find its way to Singapore. Position right smack in Bottle Tree Village off Sembawang, the tree is a beauty by itself and visited by many visitors from all over the world. We were glad that we had the chance to take a photo and look at it for ourselves!! In fact, Mahesh was super happy that he looked like the tree.(Focus: Big Tummy) So we decided that it’ll be better that he took the photo alone with his eco-idol. Good for you Mahesh!

After the long long walk, we went to North point MacD's.

Hello, Vanakkam, Ni Hao and Selamat Sejahterah from the most colourful team in this epic noMADic race. after much planning, we set off from the Singapore vision farm and headed to our first station; the chinese garden. at the start of the race, two of our team mates (guess who? it's for us to know and for you to find out.) had an awesome start. being so confident that they could jump down from the gate successfully, it did not turn out in their way. in the end, both of their pants tore and showed their sexy legs. haha. seriously sexy. woot!

ok, back to the serious stuff. as i was saying, our first station was Chinese Garden where we had to look for Confucius and tadah!

Confucius Teaching

Born in the year of 51 B.C, Confucius was once known as a wise man in ancient china. The lesson that he had thought to his disciples in the past has been spread and passes on to the world which is now commonly refer to as Confucianism.

Till now, I have also admired the words that Confucius has taught. One of his famous saying goes like this, “A man should practice what he preaches, but a man should also preach what he practice.” In summary, the following phase that is been mentioned above basically “Walk the Talk”. This is a common practice in AKLTG as when we usually coaches kids, we expect to do some thing that we ourselves are able to measure up with. For example, if you ask a kid to do a punishment of 20 push ups but you on the other hand is not able to handle a minimum of 10, what rights do you have in asking to do a punishment that you are not able to obtained?

The next lucky attraction that we thought was truly worth our time is such a gem. Guess what? No PEEKING!

Yes! You got that right and you're lucky winner no. 1! It's Henderson Wave!

Goodness Henderson Wave!! Such a boon and a bane at the same time!!! A boon because it’s such an awesome place to chill. For once, Henderson Waves gives you an alternative option to escape “chillin' in town” or “catch a movie”. The place itself is very welcoming, breezy and very roomy, very appropriate for a simple gathering as well as a-hem, couples. There were a handful of them when we invaded the area. Too bad for them, we destroyed the tranquility of the night with our WEEEEEEE and BAGUUUS and WHOOOSAY! If any couples are reading these, we’re not sorry for enthusiasm, it’s just too bad for you yo!!

But of course, the journey to Henderson is such a pain!!! Jumped from park to park, only to find ourselves re-planning our routes every few turns. But hey, it was truly worth the super long walk from Chinese Garden. It’s an awesome start to the race. As we stretched ourselves, we bonded as a team and everything else just fell in place. Whoosay!!!

After Henderson Wave, we thought it'll be a good time to hang out in our favourite place, town. We thought catching a movie is pretty boring, since Angels & Demons and Night at The Museum 2 are not out yet. Hence, we decided to take a little interest in botany.

Qn: What's Singapore's National Flower?

We've got the pictures to prove to you, it's the raunchy Vanda Miss Joaquim!

DID YOU KNOW?

In 1981,Vanda Miss Joaquim (Agnes) was named as the national flower of Singapore.

Donning the colours of Purple and White, onlookers will never want to take their eyes off it .Normally known as the Orchid Flower in Singapore, the flower is actually a hybrid of 2 Vandas. The beautiful flower was first discovered in the garden of Agnes Joaquim in 1893.

After flirting around with Vanda Miss Joaquim, it was mad rush in search of 3 more worthy icons.

Elephant at the Art Centre

Some may wonder what is the link between the elephant and the art centre? In actual fact, there are sort of connected due to a man known as George Colonel. In the past, the Art Centre used to be known as the old parliament house and it was designed by Mr George Colonel. Formerly the house of the dedicated parliament members of Singapore, this place has been retransformed into a place centralized for arts pieces such as dance, videos and art pieces.

Central Fire Station
Being the oldest fire station in Singapore, this was the first fire station set up here with the intention of preventing fire accidents. History has stated that the fire brigade was actually started due to a loss of property building worth a total of $13,000 on 7 Nov 1855.

It is due to these first fire station that helps us enforces the important of protecting our family and friends against fire attack and thus the Civil Defence (CD) in Singapore was formed. Imagine, without the CD in our present society, more accidents will be created and more lives will be loss.

After that mad rush, Team Bagus now proclaims ourselves as the noMADic record holder for obtaining 3 pictures in a record time of ____!!!!! BAGUUUS!!!!

So by rule of physics, what goes up must come down, so should the Team. We finally had our well-deserved break at East Coast Park, embracing ourselves for the gruesome 2nd day.

In just a few hours time, the Mad Bagusians are going to compete in a race of their life. At that, there will be challenges that we will be facing. However, we know that there are no challenges that we cannot overcome.

At this time, I am very excited. I can start to imagine the times we will spend together for 4 days 3 night as a team, the various tasks that we will be doing. I am sure that the committee has planned wonderful activities to make us have a fun and LOL camp ahead.

Message to the team: Even thou we may not know each other quite well. To me, you are already part of my treasured family. I am honoured to team up with you in the nomadic race. Let me end this post with a quote that I just read from the net.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Therefore, let us stay motivated and enthusiasm throughout the camp and make it a blast, for us and for the readers:)

Cheers.
